Format:  Start each meeting with this Opening:

Welcome. Our mission is to teach well-balanced portion-control eating. Each of the 9 focus Points addresses a specific and often complex issue relevant to achieving healthy weight loss and maintenance. I,_________ , will open this session.

Be sure to read the Point materials before attending. In the Pracitice Circle you will gain insight into your own behavior and become knowledgeable about physical, psychological, and practical issues.

The rules for discussion are to allow each person to speak without interruption. Raise your hand to be recognized. Please communicate only in "I" statements. Speak about yourself and share your feelings. We ask that you respect the privacy and confidentiality of each person and that you make this a safe place for everyone. If you would rather listen than to speak, simply say "pass".

Before we begin this Point, let us review the principles of palm portion eating:

Hold up your hand. The fingers of your hand represent food-groups. Starting with the pinky say "My Fingers Count Portions Offering Variety".

The M is for?  (Milk and Dairy), the F is for?  (Fruit), the C is for? (Carbohydrate) and the P is for? (Protein). The O is for? (Oils and Fats) and the V is for? (Vegetables)  It's open because it's (unlimited). And drink plenty of?  (water).

The fingers above the palm represent the food groups governed by palm portions- the size of your palm, no thicker than your thumb or a cupped palm. The thumb to the first knuckle joint is an Oil or Fat or Sweets portion.

You are allowed 12 palm-portions and 3 thumb portions a day plus unlimited vegetables. Each palm or thumb portion represents a chit. If for some reason you do not consume all 15 chits, they are not saved for the next day. If you exceed the allotted amount, do not cut back the next day. On this Plan every day is a new day.

We  will  be discussing Point ___  called ___________.  Fill the dot on your card now if you are adding this Point.

Meeting Focus Point:

You may take turns reading the Point chapter alound and/or simply follow the questions posed on the book's Practice page.  Allow 30-45 minutes for discussion at each meeting.

After all the dots are filled, you have completed the program, and repeat as needed!

End each meeting with this Close

We are now at the close of Point  ___.

Think of the number that represents your ideal weight. See yourself at your ideal weight. Say after me:  “I choose to be at my ideal weight.”     (sentence is repeated by attendees)

Place your hands on your abdomin. As you inhale allow your mid section to expand-- fill the balloon. As you exhale tighten your muscles flattening your back.

We will take three good relaxing breaths:

Picture yourself at your ideal weight.

1.....   inhale and expand the abdominal midsection, fill the balloon

exhale and contract the abdominals, let the air out

2.....   inhale and expand,     exhale and contract

3.....   inhale, exhale

Who will volunteer to Open and Close the next session? .........
